Microsoft Entra ID is the identity provider for Azure, authenticating users, groups, service principals and managed identities. Azure role-based access control (RBAC) grants least-privilege permissions to resources, while multifactor authentication and Conditional Access secure sign-ins. Identity is the control plane for everything in Azure.
